GANJAM PEO, HUBBY HELD TAKING BRIBE

Suchitra Kumari Patra, PEO, Gudipadar Gram Panchayat under Digapahandi
tehsil, Ganjam and her husband Birendra Patra were caught red handed
by the Vigilance sleuths of Brahmapur Division, while demanding and
accepting Rs5,000 as bribe.

Widows, A Parbati and R Haramma of Ganjam in order to get financial
assistance from the Government under the Jatiya Pariwar Mangala Yojana
had applied the BDO, Patapur Block. They approached accused Suchitra
Kumari Patra repeatedly to send the inquiry reports to the BDO,
Patapur, but Patra demanded Rs 6,000 from them. However, after
negotiation, Patra agreed to send the reports after receiving Rs5,000
from them. Finding no other option, Parbati reported the matter to
SP, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Accordingly, a trap was laid on Thursday and Patra and her husband
Birendra Patra were caught red handed while demanding and accepting of
Rs5,000 as bribe.
